Find out about our Outside Broadcasts
Since the early 1970’s York Hospital Radio has been supplementing its normal programme schedule, with a wide range of Outside broadcasts including shows, concerts and Home game Football Commentaries.
With improvements in technology we are now able to ‘stream’ our audio from venues via the internet to our Studios, for onward transmission to York Hospital and beyond via our website and mobile phone ‘apps’. You can find out more on our How to Listen page.
Regular venues include Joseph Rowntree Theatre, the York Theatre Royal and the Barbican, with a focused selection of Christmas themed services and events from York Minster, the Barbican and the York Hospital.
Live York City home match commentaries are provided by our commentary team Paul Walton and Dan Tait as part of the regular seasonal ‘Goaline’ Saturday afternoon Sports programme, with a presenter in the studio.
The Commentary team have also produced and released a series of Podcasts featuring York City players: Listen for free: https://hospitalball.podbean.com/
‘Streaming’ technology has now opened up new and exciting venue and programme opportunities, as we trialled our first two hour Saturday morning News and Music programme from Fountains Abbey in 2019, themed around the weekly ‘Park Run’.
Our small team is always on the lookout for new members with an appetite for audio technical operation and presenting, outside the opportunities of our normal studio based programme schedule. Anyone interested should contact us on the Get Involved page.
